Does anyone know where I can find a list of companies that are top-rated or famous for their customer service?

I will try to locate a site for you.
I do know however that Disney, Nordstrom, Toyota and a dairy in New England (can't for the life of me remember the name but I will try to find it) are really at the top of the service heap. Also, QVC and Lexus.

Hope this helps.

The dairy in Ct is Stew Leonards. Look it up on the net- they are famous for customer service, have focus groups right there at the store- etc.

Another great couple of companies are Lands End and Southwest Airlines.

Virgin Airlines is another company that excels in servicing its customers. Its a whole new experience a person gains if chose to travel by Virgin Atlantic.

Thanks!

For some reason, it's easier for me to remember the BAD ones: logoworks.com (dreadful), Qwest (although they've improved), and Nick 'n Willy's, a pizza place here in Boulder, Colorado, USA.

It's a sad truth that bad service leaves a much stronger impression that good service...

Most of the names mentioned come from the books of Tom Peters and others but consistency is the big issue. I believe I get good service from British Airways - but I meet many other people who hate flying BA.

I've visited Stew Leonards - and it's not bad but nowhere near as good as a typical UK Tesco store!

The 2005 UK Customer Care Study conducted by the Customer Care Alliance identified the following organisations as rated by consumers for "providing the best service they ever had:

1. Tesco
2. Marks & Spencer
3. Asda
4. John Lewis
5. First Direct
6. Virgin (all brands)
7. Lloyds TSB
8. NHS
9. British Gas
10. BT

The interesting thing is that BT, British Gas and Virgin were also in the list of the top 10 organisation delivering the WORST customer service.

Of that list I would rate First Direct and John Lewis as examples of how to do it right.

By the way the 2007 UK Customer Care Study is being fielded now and will be published later this year. You can find out more and get downloads of summary reports from 2004 and 2005 here.

You can forget Southwest- haven't you seen the TV show.? Just curious how you came up with their name.....
I wouldn't necessarily put any airline on the list....except maybe Virgin Air .

What makes them top-rated? in what way does these companies differ from the rest?

Looking forward to hear from you.

Best Regards

Martin
