Water Utility Fined Over Poor Customer Service

Posted 9th February 2008

UK -- Water utility company Southern Water has been fined 20.3 million pounds ($40 million) for misreporting its customer service performance levels and delivering poor service to its customers.

Utility regulator Ofwat stated that Southern Water had misreported its customer service performance to the regulator and failed to make compulsory compensation payments.

The company, which provides water and wastewater services to nearly 2 million households in UK, has also agreed to pay its customers compensation for the poor service they received.
