Supermarket Creates Jobs in Service Centre
United Kingdom - Customer contact centre brings much
needed jobs to financial services industry
Tesco, a leading British supermarket chain has announced that it
intends to create in excess of 800 jobs, to be located in a new
customer service centre in Glasgow.
The new jobs, dealing with personal finance customers have been
made possible with help of a £5 million grant from the Scottish
government.
Alistair Darling, the UK Chancellor said the move by Tesco into
personal finance was a welcome one and that more competition in
the sector was to be encouraged. It is reported that Tesco have
six million personal finance customers.
The customer contact center is scheduled to open in 2010.
