Rail Worker Takes Customer Service to a Whole New Level

29h December 2008

United Kingdom - Rail networks are not usually renowned for customer service, so it was with great honour that Catriona Whitehead, an employee of the train company CrossCountry at Waverley Station, England picked up the 2008 Station Staff of the Year award.

Catriona went out of her way to provide outstanding customer service when she came across a 17 year old passenger who, because of rail delays, was left stranded at the station.

Ms Whitehead offered the girl a bed for the night and a lift back to the station at 5am the next morning to catch the next train.

Catriona said: "I've got two girls myself, and I just didn't like the idea of anybody being stranded at the station, so I phoned her mum and told her what I was going to do, and she agreed".

A spokesman for CrossCountry, said: "Everyone at CrossCountry is extremely proud of Cat and she really deserves all the recognition she gets."

Ms Whitehead was presented with her award by record producer and railway enthusiast Pete Waterman at a ceremony at Birmingham's International Convention Centre..
