Poor Customer Service for Irish Broadband Users

Ireland -- A New national consumer complaint register (CAI) in Ireland has revealed that the extent of complaints filed against Irish Broadband, BT Ireland and Eircom.

ComReg, Ireland’s telecom regulator also reports a rising level of customer complaints.

Many of the complaints concern the broadband providers indifference, automated responses and unanswered questions. Consumers also complain that broadband speeds do not live up to expectations.

In response Irish Broadband blames its "unforeseen" growth rate of 1008 percent over the past 12 months as the source of the problems.

ALTO, an organisation which lobbies the government on behalf of telecommunications companies cited the difficulties in finding suitable people to staff the help desks as a possible problem, due to the fact it has been difficult retain call centre personnel in Ireland.
