Pension Centre Wins Customer Service Award

27th November 2009

United Kingdom - Motherwell Pension Centre has won a prestigious Guardian Public Services Award

At a ceremony in London last night, the centre was rewarded for setting up a dedicated bereavement team to respond quickly and efficiently to the needs of their most vulnerable customers.

The centre won the Customer Service award, sponsored by Institute of Customer Service, in the Innovation & Progress section.

At the awards ceremony at Old Billingsgate in London last night, broadcaster Jeremy Vine, who hosted the event, said:

"In this category the judges were looking to reward those entrants who put the customer in need first. It was for this reason that Motherwell Pension Centre really shone out as the winner.

Motherwell's bereavement team has shown real dedication in helping their customers both financially and socially at one of the most vulnerable points of their life."

David Brindle, The Guardian's Public Services Editor, said: "Despite the increasingly tough climate for our public services, standards remain
extremely high and are very much worth celebrating. Since November 2007, the team in Motherwell has grown from 10 to 25 staff to meet demand, and they really should be praised for showing true staff engagement."
