Public Services Awards - Shortlist Announced
United Kingdom - Three organizations short listed for
national customer service award
Three
organizations dealing with such diverse issues as unemployment,
social care and bereavement have been short listed for the
Institute of Customer Service prize in the 2009 Public Services
Awards run by The Guardian newspaper.
The successful trio are:
Jobcentre Plus in the Marches district of Herefordshire,
Shropshire and Worcestershire for their Rapid Response Service,
providing immediate on site support to employers and employees
facing short-time working, temporary lay-off or redundancy.
Kent County Council for Kent Card, which provides people with an
easy and convenient way to select and pay for their own care and
social support services through direct payments.
Pensions, Disability and Carers Services from the Motherwell
Pension Centre, for setting up a dedicated bereavement team to
respond quickly and efficiently to their needs of their most
vulnerable customers.
“The standard of entries was extremely high and it was pleasing
to see that despite the current challenging financial
circumstances many organizations are still focusing on improving
their customer service standards,” says Jo Causon, chief
executive of the Institute of Customer Service, who was one of
the judges.
“I was also heartened to see a number of Institute members among
the finalists who all deserve to be congratulated for getting to
this stage,” she adds.
The winners of the Guardian Public Service Awards will be
announced on 24 November. More info:
