Hydro-Quebec to Cut 250 Customer Service Jobs

Canada -  Union says company is poised to lay off workers

Hydro-Quebec is cutting 250 customer service jobs, according to a warning made by unions in full-page newspaper ads.

It is reported that the job cuts will apply to temporary workers who were hired in 2006.

Union President Claude Arseneault believes the temps are still needed because of on-going issues with a new computer system.

He said that if the positions do not become permanent, customers may experience longer waiting times when calling the government-owned public utility.
