United Kingdom - Homebase to establish social media presence

Homebase is offering its customers the opportunity to engage with experts by providing them with new channels on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Complimenting the brand's existing digital offering, the move will also deliver fresh, engaging content for customers.

An official Homebase Facebook page will launch on Monday as well as two Twitter accounts, one of which will be dedicated to answering customer service queries.

An existing YouTube channel will be re-launched with a new look and updated videos.

Content on the new pages will be focused on providing inspiration, ideas and practical support across DIY and home enhancement.

Bespoke monthly trends features on Facebook will give advice on how to recreate looks in the home and Homebase experts will provide top tips. Nectar promotions will also be featured.

Homebase Marketing Director, Jo Kenrick says:

"This activity will complement our existing multi-channel presence supporting the Homebase website, our gardening site getintogardening.co.uk and iPhone app."

The new pages will encourage customers to ask, share, 'like' and comment on their decorating questions, ideas and experiences.

A dedicated team within customer service has been specially trained to reply to Tweets and Facebook comments and respond to customer interaction across Internet based communities.

Jo Kenrick continues:

"Homebase is increasingly being mentioned throughout the social media space. We wanted to ensure we can respond to customers' questions and suggestions as well as provide them with inspiration and practical advice from our expert team, all in the space where they are already active."

To celebrate the launch Homebase will be offering anyone who 'likes' the Homebase Facebook page 30 extra Nectar points on their next purchase - marking Homebase's 30th anniversary this year. Ongoing Nectar campaigns will also be launched throughout the year and into 2012.
