Council Awarded Customer Service Excellence

8th September 2010

United Kingom - Wychavon rewarded for co-operation and willingness

Following an inspection Wychavon council have been awarded Customer Service Excellence.

Wychavon is the fourth council in the country and first council in the West Midlands to achieve this.

The standard is a Government initiative that aims to promote public services that are efficient, effective, excellent, equitable and empowering.

The aim of the standard is for the citizen to be at the heart of public service provision.

With this in mind Customer Service Excellence was developed to offer public services a practical tool for driving customer-focused change within their organization.

Cllr. Paul Middlebrough, Leader of Wychavon said

"This is a brilliant result. The inspector was very enthusiastic about the way we deliver our services and felt three words summed up our approach - co-operation, willingness and holistic. We were fully compliant in 46 out of 57 elements and compliant plus in 10 areas. This was far more than the inspector had awarded to any other organisation."

He continued: "This standard replaced Chartermark for which the Council had previously achieved full corporate compliance . Thanks go to all
those involved in the assessment and rest assured that we will continue to work hard for customers and make improvements in all areas - even
those where we already do well." Info: www.wychavon.gov.uk.
