Celebrate Customer Service Week

3rd October 2011

International event kicks off to celebrate customer service

As Customer Service Week kicks off around the world we take a look at some ways to celebrate this internationally recognized event.

Customer Service Week has been a nationally recognized event by the U.S. Congress since 1992.

The event takes place during the first full week of October each year. This year, official celebrations run from 3-7th October.

The csweek.com website has inspired us with some exciting ways to get involved.

Brighten up your workspace

Make your office, store, factory floor a pleasure to work in this week. Put up Customer Service Week banners and posters or make your own. Balloons are another easy and fun way to create the right atmosphere.

Have a party!

Reward employees with a special celebration. Invite management and other departments to come together for snacks and refreshments. It should be party time for anyone who has gone the extra mile to serve customers. Don't forget to invite some customers!

Share your success

This week is a great time to let others know about the work you do. Put up displays showing customer testimonials, thank you letters and customer feedback survey results. Performance statistics such as number of calls taken etc. may also be shared.

Recognize teamwork

Reward anyone in the organization who has played a part in keeping customers happy with a small gift or certificate. Most of all, now is the time to say "Thank you".

Celebrate with a theme

Now, let's really have some fun! Choose a theme for customer service week. It could be related to your business, products or location. Or it could be totally unrelated. The important thing is you get to dress up and transform your work place into something different and fun.

Teach your craft

Make the best use of CS Week by teaching customer service skills. You can run open training sessions for everyone in your organization.

Reward Customer Service Reps

This is the time to recognize your CSRs and agents for the amazing job they do caring for customers. Saying "Thank you" is the most important gift you can give, but if you can why not present your customer service heroes with a gift they can enjoy; cinema tickets, a meal for two, vacation vouchers. Go on, they deserve it!

Play games

Ask your team to bring in games from home or organize some of your own. Games are wonderful for team building too.

And finally..

Say THANK YOU to your customers

Without your customers there would be no Customer Service Week, and no business or organization to serve them. This week is the time to thank your customers. Each and every one of them.
