Presenting the awards alongside Portillo was BIFM chairman Ian
Broadbent - after arriving at the ceremony by rather unusual
means. Ian ran, cycled and canoed the 228 miles from Yorkshire
in the hope of raising over £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support,
the BIFM Chair’s Charity.
Mr. Broadbent said:
“Many congratulations to the winners and to the highly commended
FMs at this year’s fantastic ceremony. The quality of this
year’s entrants was extremely high and picking the winners was
possibly even tougher than my 228-mile challenge. The BIFM
Awards is the social and networking highlight of the year, and
this year certainly did not disappoint. May the next year see
our profession continue to evolve and our practitioners continue
to thrive. We at the BIFM are already looking forward to next
year’s awards.”
After dinner, everyone was treated to an engaging speech from
disabled model Shannon Murray, before dancing the night away to
The Supanova Dance Orchestra and enjoying a charity casino
sponsored by Charlton House and Lusso.
